Spread the Word! Orlando Faith and Film Camp

Feb. 15-19, 2010

During the Cherokee County School’s Winter Break, we will be taking a 5-day trip to Orlando. During the trip, we will be learning and practicing different methods of film making by visiting Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure behind the scenes tours, the Wordspring Discovery Center (a fun interactive experience focusing on Bible translation), the Jesus Film Project Studio (where they are translating the movie into all dialects for people around the world- students get first-hand experience in this process!).
During the day, students will get to shoot video according to photo "scavenger hunts" and participate in workshops with film professionals in the evening. It will be a great chance for youth to take a break from school, have fun, and learn many ways to share Christ with the world!

Mon	Day 1	LD	6:30- 7:00 am departure for Orlando. If we arrive in time, we will go to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and enjoy the rides!
Tues	Day 2	BLD	This morning after breakfast, we will visit the Wordspring Discovery Center. It is here that we will learn about different initiatives to translate the Bible into many different languages. People are more touched when they hear the word of God in their "heart language", that is the language that they were born speaking. But what about the many people throughout the world who can't read? This morning we will also be visiting the Jesus Film Project Studio, where we will learn how the story of Christ has been turned into a film that is being translated into "heart languages" from around the world. You could even try your hand at being a translator in the studio! Afterwards, we will visit the Holy Land Experience and see the replica of the Jeruselem Temple, learn what it was like for the Jews to worship in the wilderness Tabernacle, and see the model of Jeruselem from Christ's time.
Wed	Day 3	BLD	Today we will visit Universal Studios, riding the rides and studying how they use special effects to enhance the thrilling experience. We'll discuss how these techniques can be used in the Jesus Film Project and other films to help spread the word about God's love.
Thurs	Day 4	BLD	Today we will Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and participate in a "Behind the Adventure" tour. We'll look at how atmosphere is created through sets, props and technology. We will discuss how film makers and missionaries can use these ideas to bring alive the message of Christ to their audiences through drama. Of course, since this is our last day, we'll also enjoy the rides!!
Fri	Day 5	BL	We'll have a leisurely breakfast, then pack up and return home. We will lunch enroute and arrive in time for dinner!
