What are the benefits of leading a group on Christian Study Abroad?
• You’ll gain a better understanding of the historical and geographical setting of significant Christian events that you cover in class.
• This first-hand knowledge and experience will enable you to deliver powerful lessons that your students will remember!
• Your personal photos will create presentations that your students will find fascinating!
• You will re-new the excitement of being a Christian for yourself and your students!
• Build group strength: Your student group will grow together as you build/strengthen friendships, build leadership qualities, and grow in knowledge. As you experience spiritual growth together, your group will grow stronger and be more likely to strive for excellence when they get back home!
• Learn more about history and its relationship to modern times: Be seeing how much things have changed - and more importantly, how much things have stayed the same – we gain a better understanding of social and political trends in the world today. Some will also get a chance to learn more about their cultural or denominational heritage, which will magnify the impact!
1. When I decide to lead a team, what am I obligated to do?
By signing up to a lead a group, you are only letting us know that you are going to try and put a group together. We hope that you will succeed in doing so and will help you, but you are not committing to do so. If you do put together a group of 10 or more full-fare students and/or “Adult Explorers”, you will qualify for discounts and to apply for “Official Team Chaperone” status. As a Team Chaperone, the cost of participation in the program will be waived and you qualify to receive family discounts.
2. How do I become a team leader?
Just contact us and we will get you set up.
3. Do I have to sign up for a trip and send a deposit to be a team leader?
Yes, we need to reserve your space on the trip! It is important to communicate to us that are planning to put a team together. After registering with us, we can give you the support you need to effectively communicate the value of the trip to others, and make it easy to collect the information about your team. If you are able to recruit a group of 10 or more full-fare students or “Adult Explorers” and qualify as a Team Chaperone, your program fee will be waived and we will reimburse your deposits with a business check at the successful completion of the trip.
4. As a team leader, what do I have to do before we leave?
All you need to do is build your team and provide their information to us. Other than that, you just need to do the same things that all our travelers must do, such as attend orientation and fill out the appropriate paperwork. Stellaris CSA will build the trip itinerary (customizing it to your group’s desires if applicable), arrange all travel, and collect money. Have your group members specify that they are in your group on their application. You may also wish to travel together to the orientation and/or airport on departure day.
5. How many people do I have to sign up?
You’ll need at least 10 other full-fare participants, but signing up more makes for an even better trip!
6. What do I have to do during the trip?
The Stellaris CSA staff will be doing most of the work during the trip, but you may apply for status as an “Official Team Chaperone”. Official Team Chaperones get special perks like free travel and family discounts, but they have more responsibility. They are responsible for supervising a number of travelers in accordance with our Chaperone to student ratio. For the most part, though, you’ll be free to enjoy your trip with the rest of your group!
